The affordable Nokia 105

Nokia has come out with the most affordable phone in their entire range - the new Nokia 105. As far as I know, it comes in cyan and black with a 1.45” 65k colour screen and costs just €15.

Despite the low price, the phone has some great features. The key pad is dust-proof and splash-proof. Moreover, according to Nokia, the phone has up to 12.5 hours talk-time and 35 days standby. That's more than a month. Unfortunately, it does not have a camera and I am not sure how this will affect the take up of this phone by the social media connected young people who are clearly the target market. However, I know someone who would love this phone - my technophobe dad. He only uses his phone to make and receive calls.

The phone will be available in the second quarter of 2013.

Personalised case for my Samsung Galaxy S2

A couple of weeks ago I blogged about my new mobile cover made from silicon. It does the job but I was not really happy with it. The problem is that it makes my mobile quite thick to hold. One of the best features of the Samsung Galaxy S2 is the ultra-slim and minimalist design. In fact it is still one of the slimmest mobile phones in the market. I was on the look out for another slim cover like my previous one, when I got the opportunity to review the mobile phone covers from Ideal cases. This company allows you to come up with  personalised cases for your mobile phone and tablets in a few steps.

First I selected my phone model (Samsung Galaxy S2). Unfortunately they had only 3 choices. I selected the full wrap print with gloss finish option (£24.99). I preferred this to the other two options as it allows you to personalise the whole case, including the back and edges. I was then taken to the next step and given 4 styling and design options. I initially thought of going for a grid layout with a number of images but then thought it would be a good idea to have once single picture for the whole case.

So I selected the freestyle option, selected one particular picture of my kids which I really love. I initially thought of putting in some abstract designs and wording but in the end, decided against it as the design became too cluttered. I did not bother with layers and other stuff.

I made sure that the picture covered all the edges and once I was done, clicked the "order now" button. This took me to the shopping cart page where I got an overview of how the cover would look like. I then proceeded to the check out page paid for the product and that was it.

A couple of days later, I received my cover and I love it. What do you think?

The quality of the print is really good and I have had several of my friends admiring it. I will be more creative next time.

The new BlackBerry Z10

Finally, BlackBerry has seen the light but I wonder whether it's too late. I am talking about the the new BlackBerry Z10,said to be the fastest ever BlackBerry®. This touchscreen smartphone is powered by the latest BlackBerry® 10 operating system. Apparently the keyboard learns how you type, then adapts to help you type faster. The most innovative feature is probably the BBM™ Video
